It’s all a matter of perspective

1 November 2021

One day, the father of a very wealthy family takes his son to the country to show him how poor people live. They spend a few days on the farm of a family that doesn’t have much to offer them.
When they return, the father asks his son, “Did you enjoy your stay? ”
“It was fantastic, Dad! ”
“Did you see how poor people live? ” the father asks again.
“Oh yes!” Replies the son.
“So what did you learn?”
The son replies, “I saw that we only have one dog while they have four.
We have a pool that is half the size of the backyard and they have a big creek.
We have lanterns in our garden and they have stars all over the sky.
We have a huge front porch and they have the horizon.
We have an estate, but they have fields as far as the eye can see.
We have servants while they serve others.
We buy our food and they grow it.
We have walls around the property to protect us. They have friends who protect them.
The father was speechless.
The son added, “Thank you, Dad, for showing me what we don’t have.
Too often, we forget what we have and mope about what we don’t have.
What is a worthless object for one, may very well be a treasure for another. It is only a question of perspective
Let’s find our eyes and our heart of childhood and see how important it is to appreciate what we have rather than worrying about what we do not have.
To think about it Have a good weekend.
