As a business coach, I often encounter clients who struggle with their inner dialogue. The way we talk to ourselves can have a huge impact on our motivation and ability to take action.
Do you differentiate between “I have to do” and “I will do” or even “I want to do”? 🧐
This simple change of words can transform your mindset. When we say “I have to,” it can create external pressure, a sense of obligation. On the other hand, “I will” or “I want to” suggest intrinsic motivation, a personal desire to act.
This distinction also has roots in transactional analysis, an approach I often integrate into my coaching. This theory teaches us that our thoughts, words, and actions are influenced by different states of self: Parent, Adult, and Child. By becoming aware of these states, we can better understand our internal dialogue and adjust our language to foster a positive, action-oriented mindset.
💡 What kind of self-talk do you use?
Investing in positive and mindful self-talk is an investment in your success. Taking control of your internal dialogue can transform your “I have to” into “I want to” and pave the way for more determined actions that align with your goals.
Remember, the first person to motivate you is yourself! 🎯
