The manager is not a machine devoid of feelings. Our emotions speak to us, they dictate our actions and what we need. As managers and even employees, we are constantly confronted with the problem of managing emotions at work. Knowing how to manage emotion is first of all-knowing yourself well enough to identify it. 🤔
If a specific emotion always comes up when you are faced with a similar situation, it simply means that you understand and accept it. 💡
☑️ The next step would be to welcome those emotions that scare you because if you internalize or repress them, they will eventually come knocking at the door again.
☑️ Observing them will allow you to know the reactions that these emotions bring about in you, whether it’s a smile, shaking, or tears.
☑️ Listening to your emotions will allow you to know what you need and finally take the necessary step back to express them properly. Sometimes all it takes is a chocolate, a breath of fresh air, or a nap to get over your emotions and calm down.
In the end, we must always remember that there are many ways to express our emotions, so we might as well opt for healthier and less stressful solutions!
The biggest challenge here is to take a step back from each emotion, and the consequences it can have on your professional and personal life; whether it is positive or negative; and at a time when you are calmer, make peace with it.
